Cross Connection Control and Backflow Prevention Program
RWU, in conjunction with the Arkansas Department of Health, implements a Backflow Prevention Program which applies to all fire protection, commercial, industrial, and irrigation connections to a public water main. This program ensures that all backflow preventors are functioning properly and stops all harmful substances such as industrial water treatment chemicals, cleaning solution, fertilizers, and herbicides from entering the public water system. For more information from the Arkansas Department of Health click Here.
All domestic backflow preventors must be lead-free and all backflow preventors must be installed before the first tee or branch.

Fats, Oils, & Grease (FOG) Abatement
You can prevent costly issues in your own pipes as well as the whole sewer system by following these simply rules:
1. Do not pour fats, oils, and grease down your sink. Place them in a sealable container so it can be disposed in the trash.
2. Wipe off excess grease from plates and pans with paper towels before washing, so the grease can be disposed in the trash.
3. Remove excess food from dishes before washing. Use baskets/strainers in sink drains to catch any remaining food.
